Charis - where lessons of God and life are imbibed and the grace of God abounds

Some members have this to say of their experiences at Charis:

"Charis is my home, always have and always will be. It is a church I grew up in where everyone is like family. Charis did the nurturing part of my life - it has definitely played a significant role in my upbringing, making me the Christian I am today. "

- Ezra Ho

"My present role as a youth cell leader is not my work alone. It is like driving a vehicle with Jesus being my headlights shining the path ahead, and all my peers and seniors being the rear mirrors and side mirrors, encouraging me and showing me the areas which I need to improve on and be cautious with."

- Huang Caifeng

"One of the most encouraging moments happened in 1996 when my son, Elwin was born. I had just joined the church the year before (though my wife was from Geylang before joining me at my previous church). Elwin was not feeling well and we were naturally rather worried. Pastor Daniel Lee and the entire cell group rallied around us in prayer. Pastor visited us several times, once right after service on Sunday and he arrived at my home before me. This showed me that Charis is a caring church. I want to be a part of this church and serve here."

- Charles Loh

As Charis continues its journey, we are assured that God will always be by our side. As sure as the sun rises, Charis will continue to experience the grace and presence of God. And in receiving, Charis will continue to share God's blessings with those around her. As our then LCEC (Local Church Executive Committee) Chairman puts it;

"We experienced the grace of God not only in the reconstruction of the single storey bungalow into the three storey building with a basement it is today. There is also the realization of Charis' vision to support missions with outreach in Chiangmai and Batu Lichin and the support of more than 15 missionaries and full-time workers.

This year, we saw one of our very own members graduating from Trinity Theological College (TTC) and serving Charis while there are two other members still studying in TTC. We see spiritual and numerical growth in the Discipleship Follow-up Classes led by committed and faithful Charis members. There is also the restructuring and centralization of the Cell Ministry at the Church level with more focus on teaching and body life evangelism. More members are also stepping forward to serve in the various ministries & church programmes. Indeed, we are living in exciting times!"

It is our prayer that Charis Methodist Church continues to be a beacon of truth and light to the many who pass through our humble gates; that all who come will be transformed by God's grace as we obediently allow ourselves to be used individually and corporately as channels of God's saving, healing, changing, caring, building and uplifting grace.
