House of Peniel - Coming face to face with God

"One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts." Psalm 145:4

[ Construction of House of Peniel ]The reconstructed three storey bungalow with a basement is named "House of Peniel". The word "Peniel" comes from the Biblical story where Jacob wrestled with an angel of God. Jacob had left his father-in-law's place and was heading towards his homeland. Along the way, he heard that Esau (whom Jacob had cheated of his birthright) was on his way to meet Jacob. He was afraid that Esau might not only kill him and his family but also take away all his wealth. Many uncertainties were before him and in his hour of anxiety and brokenness, God sent an angel to minister to his needs.

However, Jacob was not satisfied. He wanted a blessing too. Jacob's hunger and craving for a blessing from God was so intense that he clung on to the angel and would not let go until he was blessed. Jacob named the place "Peniel" in thanksgiving to God. He had met God face to face and lived.

The House of Peniel in Charis must likewise be a place for people to have a personal encounter with God and God alone - a place where needs are met and blessings received.
