Timeline

1989

English congregation became autonomous on 1st January and was named Charis Methodist Church.

1991 Establishment of second worship service in January at Geylang Methodist Primary School.
1992 Purchase of 91/97 Koon Seng Road from Pentecost Methodist Church at $4.901 million.
1993

Charis moved into the Koon Seng Road premises in March.

Mandarin Service inaugurated on 30th May.

1994 Charis Student Care Centre opened its doors at Geylang Central to 33 students.
1997 Setting of Charis' vision and mission and drawing up of five-year plan at Leaders' Retreat in September.
1999 Reconstruction of bungalow and renovation of Church building.
2001

Completion of reconstruction and renovation work to the bungalow and Church building.

Second Student Care Centre at Geylang Central opened its doors in July. This is a joint venture between Charis and Marine Parade Community Development Council (MP-CDC).

2003

Launch of House of Healing ministry.

Launch of Activity Centre for the Elderly (ACE).

Thanksgiving and dedication of the refurbished church building and the reconstructed bungalow named "House of Peniel" on 31st August.
