A NOTE FROM THE SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRY

Launch of Bible Reading for Children at Bible4Kids Camp 2010
For Sunday School Ministry (Primary 1 to 5)

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

The Sunday School Ministry’s Vision 2010 is “To grow our children in God’s Word, in Christ-likeness and to share God’s love with others”.   As such, the Sunday School’s Curriculum and activities are being tailored to support the vision as follows:-

a) Curriculum 2010

1. Character First – Gratefulness (Jan - Feb)
2. Proclaim Christ Series (Mar - May)
3. Character First – Forgiveness (Jun - Aug)
4. Spiritual Gifts (Sep - Nov)
5. Come Celebrate Christmas Series (Dec)

b) Children Outreach Sunday (4th Sunday of the month)

This special Children program focuses on missions theme “Around the World” where children “visit” and learn about different countries, people, cultures, religions and witness how God’s word can make a difference in their lives.

c) Bible4Kids Camp 2010 (5th & 6th June 2010)

The key goal of the camp was to encourage the children to enjoy Bible reading and to have a regular devotion time with God.   At the same time, the Spiritual Parenting workshop “Intentional Heritage Builder” conducted by Mr David Leong, of Scripture Union, Singapore, seek to challenge parents to start family devotion with their children.
So it was at the Bible4kids camp, we launched the Bible Reading program for our Sunday School children using Scripture Union’s Bible Reading Notes “NEW QUEST – Volume 4 (New Testament) – subsidized by the Sunday School Ministry.

The uniqueness of the Scripture Union’s Bible Reading Notes “NEW QUEST :-

1. After every 7 days, there will be a Weekly Family Devotional Guide for parents to discuss with their children on their Bible reading and devotional thoughts.

2. There are a total of 6 volumes and when completed, the children would have finished reading the whole Bible from Old Testament to New Testament.

The children were also taught the Four Steps of Reading The Bible:-

1. PRAY – Ask God to help you to understand
2. READ – Carefully read the Bible passage then your devotional notes
3. THINK – Ask yourself: What does God want me to know today?
4. ACT – Pray that God will help you do what he tells you.

Special note to Parents/Guardians
We need your partnership to encourage the children to complete the Bible reading program (Jun - Dec 2010). Upon completion, they would have completed reading the 4 Gospels and a certificate will be awarded to them.

If you have any questions, please talk to Richard Goh (Sunday School’s Superintendant), Joyce Chue or Eliza Ong (Sunday School’s Co-ordinators) or myself.
