This is the foundation of the DISCIPLE Bible Study program. It is a prerequisite to the other Disciple studies. A 34-week study of the Bible with daily preparation and weekly group discussions, Becoming Disciples through Bible Study aims at developing biblically nourished persons committed to live as disciples of Christ.
This study gives equal time to both the Old and New Testament, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God. During the course of the 34 weeks, groups will move through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem. The titles of the sessions along with theme words, theme verses and major persons, events, and topics will set the sequence of the biblical story in the minds of the participants. The principal Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story.
Becoming Disciples through Bible Study is a study calling on persons to submit themselves to examination by God’s Word, to put themselves under the power of God’s Word and to be changed by God’s Word.

Remember Who You Are

The driving idea behind this study is the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Participants in this study will read the major and minor Old Testament prophets (with the exception of Daniel) and the 13 letters traditionally attributed to Paul over 32 weeks. To establish the historical context in which the prophets spoke for God, daily reading assignments draw also on the books of Deuteronomy through Chronicles.
Several themes weave their way through the study: the command to remember, the call to repentance, the need for renewed vision – eyes to see and ears to hear – and the place of community. The prophets and Paul are continually calling readers and hearers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a people “set apart” for God.
Remember Who You Are is a study calling persons to confront the questions of the prophets and Paul: What are life’s priorities? What are society’s priorities? What does God require of His people?
